Очень хорошо сказано про волчанку, Эллисон и женских персонажей. Подписываюсь под каждым словом.
All of these Allison Argent GIFs are depressing me all over again.
It’s almost a full day later and I’m still really angry about them killing her off. I know Crystal Reed ‘wanted to go’, but why would an actress leave a steady, paying job on a well-regarded tv show (whose schedule usually provided large gaps for filmmaking in between seasons) in order to play Russian Roulette with her career during pilot season?
It doesn’t make sense unless her work environment was toxic and she was being treated badly enough that she had to flee for her mental health or she was underutilized and unhappy with her story lines.
Either way, out of the six big deaths on TW, five were women and two were POCs. They act like the killing of teenagers (Boyd, Erica, Allison, Matt, almost Jackson) is no big deal.
Couple that with the continued violence against Lydia as a plot point - as well as her character’s purpose being only to save the male characters (Jackson, Stiles, Peter) on the show, and I feel kind of gross watching.
In fact, the only characters whose treatment doesn’t upset me in some way are Scott and Kira, and I’m guessing it’s only a matter of time before Kira gets raped/tortured/used as a plot point to up Scott’s main pain quotient or personal development.
The show used to be fun escapism. I even enjoyed the darker elements this season and loved the dark!stiles plot line, but the show has lost the thread of what made it a good watch. It’s turned into a maudlin kill-fest, where half the people die each season, and the ones who are left either don’t mourn them at all or throw themselves into self-destructive behavior as a reaction to the grief. The tone of the show honestly sucks now. It’s beyond heavy and depressing. This is not what I signed up for.
Ultimately, I just really hate the way the character of Allison - who was really a role model for teenage girls - was treated. She was a strong presence on the show, there to balance out the men. Her family history was integral to the over-arching plot.
I’m not sure why she wasn’t given more attention as a character, other than the obvious sexism at play. Jeff Davis can’t write realistic women. He doesn’t know how they tick, so he writes to what he believes are his strengths, and that means that the men are the ones who get the juicy stories and the women become plot devices or love interests (Hello Lydia and Malia! This is your purpose on the show!) in order to aid men in realizing their full potential.
Anyway, I’m really sad, because I loved the show, but unless something amazing happens in the next episode, I’m so out. I wonder how many other people feel like me and will leave with Allison. Will Jeff ever get the message or is this just another show that’s gone down the drain due to the hubris of its showrunner and his over-ambitious bid to make ‘EVENT TELEVISION’ at the cost of coherency.
Le sigh.
